Considering or implementing a de-risking and partial de-coupling process carries a host of legal and reputational issues for corporations, professional service firms and NGOs as they work to navigate in this new international landscape.

EKLJN’s team of highly experienced advisors help corporations assess and manage geopolitical, operational, legal, and supply chain risks from every perspective to provide a comprehensive analysis across multiple areas of concern including:

  • Chinese national security laws
  • Data transfer and security
  • Human Rights violations
  • Supply chain logistics
  • Finance risks
  • Technology transfers
  • Intellectual property rights and disputes

Our attorneys have a thorough understanding of the legal, cultural, and political nuances shaping policy in both Beijing and Washington, DC. With deep experience in Mainland China, Hong Kong and the United States, the EKLJN team is well equipped to counsel clients across a broad range of issues impacting their businesses in the China region.

Dennis and Ben frequently advise democratic governments, policy makers and MNCs on geopolitical issues arising from the China region. Recent notable matters include:

Unlike many firms, EKLJN does not maintain a business presence in the PRC and is not subject to many of the Chinese laws governing law firms and consultants with active operations in the PRC. The practice is specifically designed to be free from conflict and unencumbered by Chinese regulations.

The practice is co-led by founding partner Dennis Kwok and partner Benjamin Qiu.
